Don’t try to be original. Just try to be good. That sounds sort of naive but it’s true.Paul Rand

But, your brain’s a piece-of-shit writer. I know this, because mine is too. So, let me assure you that there’s no point in waiting for your brain to start making the clackity noise for you. It can’t. That’s all on you, and on me, and on each of our extant fingers.Merlin Mann, Making the Clackity Noise

03Aug09/The Flip HD

Last weekend I took a trip down to my friends lake house as I have done for the last few years. We usually go wake boarding, water skiing, “suicide” tubing and any relaxing we can do after. This year my friend brought his brand new flip with him so we could record the weekend activities.

The Flip for those that don’t know is a small HD video recorder that is relatively cheep. The most amazing thing about this though is the ease of use.

The interface is made up mostly of one big red button and a screen. You simply push the red button to record and push it again to stop. The other buttons will light up based on what current options you have with the video. When you are viewing video next and last arrows show up along with a play and trash. Its crazy to think that regular cameras have more features and switches than an HD video camera.

Its simplicity and size let us bring it on the boat and have anyone record. When we were finished we could easily plug in the camera without any cords or accessories and load them easily on his computer to watch the HD video.

The Flip earns an A+ in my book for its simplicity and design. Well done boys and girls.

(Check back soon for video of me tearing it up/crashing on a wake board)
