I saw this http://twitter.com/cameronmoll/status/2029925794 on Cameron Moll’s twitter feed earlier today and read the blog post. It sums up the reasons for switching to HTML and pixel based lay out pretty well. Something I have already started to do.

I have been using pixel values for a little while now because all current browsers use page zoom. If I have a valid reason to avoid the math that it will take to do my design/layout all in ems I will. It also seems as if XHTML is not moving forward as much as HTML is.

Of course all of this still depends on who your audience is, in the end its all about your users. Make sure you check out his blog post http://cameronmoll.com/archives/2009/06/coding_like_its_1999/.
